Shaping a world-class fashion hotspot, the 2024 World Fashion Conference will be held in Humen, Dongguan.
On October 12th, the press conference for the 2024 World Fashion Conference was held in Beijing. It was announced at the meeting that the current World Fashion Conference will be held from November 20th to 22nd in Humen Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province. The conference is hosted by the China Textile Industry Federation and organized by the China National Garment Association and the China Textile Information Center. The 27th China (Humen) International Fashion Fair and 2024 Greater Bay Area (Humen) Fashion Week will be held simultaneously in Humen Town from November 21 to 24.
The fashion industry is increasingly highlighting its cross-cultural and cross-border globalization characteristics. Standing at a new historical intersection, strengthening global cooperation and jointly addressing challenges has become a broad consensus in the industry. The convening of the 2024 World Fashion Conference is a powerful interpretation and vivid practice of this concept.
Looking back at 2023, the successful holding of the first World Fashion Conference has made Dongguan Humen’s clothing industry renowned both domestically and internationally, demonstrating substantial growth. Among the 12000 textile, clothing, shoe, and hat manufacturing enterprises in Dongguan, 1200 enterprises above designated size have achieved a total industrial output value of over 90 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of nearly 10%; Among them, Humen Town, a famous clothing and apparel town, has formed a large-scale industrial cluster and achieved rapid growth year-on-year.
This year, Dongguan’s economic development has shown amazing resilience, focusing on the urban characteristics of “technological innovation+advanced manufacturing”, and the city’s economic situation is running smoothly. Among them, the clothing, footwear, and hat industry has contributed a significant share of growth, and the support of the World Fashion Conference will give new impetus to Dongguan’s clothing industry. During this conference, Dongguan will also release multiple events and project signings to better utilize the conference platform and help Dongguan’s related industries transform and upgrade, and achieve high-quality development.
The textile, clothing, shoe and hat industry in Dongguan is a traditional industry and also a pillar industry of Dongguan. In 2023, Dongguan’s textile, clothing, shoe and hat industry created an output value of over 95 billion yuan, and it is expected to exceed 100 billion yuan this year. Last year, the World Fashion Conference was successfully held in Humen, bringing the world’s attention to Dongguan. This year, the World Fashion Conference will continue to be held, which is expected to provide new quality productivity for the upgrading of Dongguan’s textile, clothing, footwear and hat industry by focusing on advanced technologies, new materials, new designs, and new concepts at home and abroad.
Overall situation of the clothing industry: In the first half of 2024, the production of China’s clothing industry steadily rebounded, and the industrial added value of enterprises above designated size decreased by 0.6% year-on-year, narrowing the decline by 7.6 percentage points compared to the same period in 2023. The clothing production increased slightly, with a total of 9.936 billion pieces of clothing produced, a year-on-year increase of 4.42%, and a growth rate 12.26 percentage points higher than the same period in 2023. The growth rate of the domestic sales market has slowed down, with the cumulative retail sales of clothing products above designated size reaching 515.63 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.8%, and a growth rate 14.7 percentage points slower than the same period in 2023.
In the future, the clothing industry needs to continue to consolidate its stable and positive foundation, promote the digital and intelligent upgrading of enterprises, enhance the core competitiveness of the industry and the modernization of the industrial chain, and lead the high-quality development of the industry with innovation as the driving force.
